European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research

The European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) is a non-profit research organisation dedicated to the coordination of research projects. It aims to support the development of biomedical imaging technologies and the dissemination of knowledge. It was established on the initiative of The European Society of Radiology (ESR) in 2006 and funded by the European Commission within Framework Programme 6.

EIBIR’s mission is to improve cooperation within the European biomedical imaging community, with the goal of improving the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The organisation actively supports research networking activities, common initiatives, and interoperability in the field of biomedical imaging research by providing services in proposal writing, project management and taking the lead in dissemination and communication activities.

Role in the project

Within ODELIA, EIBIR acts as project coordinator (WP8) and leads the communication and dissemination efforts of the project (WP7).

Peter Gordebeke

Peter Gordebeke graduated with a Master’s degree in Medical Biology from Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands. He has experience in small non-coding RNA and micro RNA research and spent time in the pharmaceutical industry establishing new molecular testing methods, including the validation of critical testing equipment.

Since joining EIBIR in 2014, he as been involved in several EU-funded research projects in various capacities, ranging from coordination to project management and leading the communication and dissemination aspects.

Peter currently serves as the main coordinator contact for the EUCAIM project (Cancer Image Europe) and shares this role with his colleague Katharina in the ODELIA project. He is the project manager for the HyperProbe and Med-IPUT projects. Peter is the lead communication and dissemination manager for EuCanImage and RadioVal.

In addition, Peter lead the data management and collection activities within EIBIR.

Katharina Krischak

Katharina Krischak holds Master’s degrees in English, German Philology, and Celtic Studies from the University of Vienna. Prior to joining the EIBIR team in August 2014, she gained experience working at the European Commission in Brussels and the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

Katharina has over 9 years of experience in managing and disseminating the results of EU-funded projects, including Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020 and COST actions. She is currently involved in the coordination and dissemination of several projects. Katharina acts as project and dissemination manager of the ENDOMIX (Understanding how endocrine disruptors and chemical mixtures of concern target the immune system to trigger or perpetuate disease) project and serves as work package leader for dissemination in the CHAIMELEON (Accelerating the lab to market transition of AI tools for cancer management) project. In addition, she is involved in the cooridination of the HyperProbe (Transforming brain surgery by advancing functional-guided neuronavigational imaging) project.

Within ODELIA, Katharina co-leads the project coordination and dissemination tasks.
